Uninterruptible Power Supply

I need to get one that will support up to two PCs with monitors, one printer, a high end speaker system, a desk lamp, a cable modem and a router.

I don't know how to really get what I need here. Based on this information, do Ijust base this on the amount of plugs which in this case would be about 8-10 and if so, since I have about 4 of them going through a 4 plug surge protector and the other 4 through another surge protector, then I'd only need a few plugs.

I would think that I'd have to measure the amount of power that it would need to sustain for any given amount of time which in this case, I just want a few minutes so when Isee the power go out from a storm, I can quickly and properly shut down my equipment rather than it crashing down hard with no power. Help! Suggestions from anyone who really knows are welcome. Thanks!

Same qualities that you look for in a surge protector apply here.
I buy the BEST surge protection that I can get. After all, this is protecting
a fairly big purchase. Since you live in an area that looses power a lot,
I would think that you would not want to go the cheap route.
Just my .02

you need to base it on power not amount of plugs and it only really needs to run the main system not lamps etc. If you can buy one powerful enough to run all that you listed then its gonna be costly.

The first one sci listed will run a sytem of 450 w pretty much an average power of one system for 70 mins so devide that by 2 systems and you can only plug 5 devices into the back up, 5 are normal this would work for you for one system, computer, monitor, router/modem, and maybe the printer, that fills the five on the back up side the lamp etc can be run on the other five sockets..

D
P.S you can get me on yahoo if you want to chat...
