I will say that I will miss this Doctor. I really like Eccleston's style.

DM. Let us Yanks know what you think of the new Doctor.

Well the new series started to night so give me a few weeks and will let you know.

P.s there should only be 3 docs left this one is the 10th one and he's only supposed to have 13 'lives'

Who's K9 Gets Own Show

The BBC ( http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/4939144.stm ) reported that the children's TV channel Jetix Europe is developing a show spun off of the hit Doctor Who ( http://www.scifi.com/doctorwho/ ) series, centered on K9, the Doctor's trusty robot dog. K-9 Adventures will feature an updated version of K9 and will mix live action and computer animation.

Jetix Europe is joining forces with former Doctor Who designer Paul Tams and K9 co-creator Bob Baker for the 26-episode series. Baker co-wrote the Oscar-winning Wallace and Gromit feature film.

K9 first appeared on Doctor Who between 1977 and 1981 and returned for an episode, aired April 29, of BBC1's new Doctor Who revival. K9 also appeared in a 1981 one-off show, K9 and Company, and the 1983 special The Five Doctors.

Meanwhile, the BBC announced that it has added new cast members to its own Doctor Who spinoff series, Torchwood, joining star John Barrowman as Capt. Jack Harkness.

Burn Gorman (Bleak House) will play Torchwood's resident medic, Owen Harper. Eve Myles will play Gwen Cooper. Naoko Mori will reprise her role as Toshiko Sato, a scientist who first appeared in the Who episode "Aliens of London." Filming on Torchwood begins in Cardiff next month, and the series will hit British TV screens later this year.

Bad news, everybody:

Billie Piper is leaving "Doctor Who" in the nail-biting series two finale reports The BBC. Over the past two years, Billie has taken the character of Rose Tyler on an adventure of a lifetime, traveling across the galaxy with the Doctor.

The Beeb this time though has successfully avoided the minor PR land mine that struck when the first Doctor of the new era, Christopher Eccleston, departed under what was seen as unstable circumstances. Piper has confirmed she's leaving, that the split is amiable and that the door is open for her to potentially come back.

Russell T Davies, writer and Executive Producer adds: "The Doctor Who team have had a whole year to plan this final scene and have created a stunning exit for Rose Tyler. With a series climax called Doomsday on its way, I can't guarantee who will survive and who won't, but I can assure you the TARDIS is going on its scariest journey yet!”

Last week's episode "The Satan Pit" threw in a cryptic reference by a powerful alien creature that Rose could face a horrible death very soon. Doctor Who series three starts filming again later this summer and will return with a Christmas special in 2006 and another series of 13 episodes for 2007. The second series finale airs in the UK in July, no word yet on when the second series will hit American shores.

I read about this Friday. I am saddened to say the least. On a brighter note, David Tennant as the Doctor is a pleasent surprise. Mostly happy, but often brooding. He was a good choice.

Having wrapped up its second season recently in the UK, talk of the third season of "Doctor Who" is rife in England right now as shooting is underway on the next lot of thirteen episodes due to air next year.

As previously mentioned, newcomer Freema Agyeman takes over from Billie Piper as the Doctor's new companion. It has now been revealed by The BBC that she'll be playing a medical student named Martha Jones, and is definitely set to appear in all thirteen episodes.

Russell T Davies, writer and Executive Producer, also talks about some of the adventures ahead: "The Doctor and Martha are destined to meet William Shakespeare, blood-sucking alien Plasmavores, The Judoon - a clan of galactic stormtroopers, and a sinister intelligence at work in 1930s New York".

Filming of the Christmas episode, which guest stars Catherine Tate as a bride who finds her wedding day interrupted by an alien plot to destroy the Earth, has already been completed. The storyline features the return of the Robot Santas and also guest stars Sarah Parish as the evil, alien mastermind.

John Barrowman, who memorably played the bisexual intergalactic conman Jack Harkness in the latter half of the first season, is confirmed to be making an appearance in the third series finale. The Doctor himself will sport a new blue suit look to replace his dark brown second series number, though photos from the set indicate the tan trenchcoat remains.

Now, onto the unconfirmed reports. First up a rumour emerged early last week that the producers were planning to drop a bombshell - that The Doctor has a son, with the revelation to be made around the end of the third season. Leading Who site Outpost Gallifrey however has been told by a wide variety of people connected with the show that "this is nonsense".

Tabloid The Sun reports that "Footballers' Wives" star Zoe Lucker (aka superbitch Tanya Turner) is being lined up to play one of The Doctor's old enemies - the evil female Time Lord 'The Rani', originally played by Kate O'Mara in the 1980's.

The Mirror reports that former companions Sarah Jane Smith & K-9, who re-appeared in second season episode "School Reunion", will also appear in the Christmas 2006 special episode "The Runaway Bride".

Finally, Davies confirmed to BBC News that plans for a Doctor Who spin-off show entitled "Rose Tyler: Earth Defence" and starring Billie Piper were scrapped at the last minute. Davies decided the program was 'a spin-off too far' and called it off, even though plans had gotten a decent way along.

Season Two of "Doctor Who" has already finished in the UK and wraps up in Australia in late September, both will get the DVD release late November. In the US the second season kicks off on the Sci-Fi Channel with a two-hour premiere on Friday September 29th (starting with the Christmas special, followed by the first episode of season two), whilst the DVD release is expected Spring 2007.
