The server in the title is none other than KidKapri's redeemer server. It can be found at UNREAL://24.164.204.29:7777 Glad to know you are still around, Kid. |

Is it advertised? I didn't see it in the server browser. Ok I found it. Alphabetize the server list then look near the top. It's got a single space in the name before the word "The". |

I'm assuming you mean server. Servers are different from sites. And aren't all the deemer servers basically the same just with different maps. Which Deemer server stands out to you? |

Basically, you're right, all servers are the same but only the contents (proportion contained) are and can be different. And that is where the similarities stop. But I'm still new to this, compared to all those that have been here for years, (perhaps you?......who should know the differences) and I really shouldn't comment....but I will....lol Currently I know of only 3 Redeemer Servers. Curious George's, ClanDOU and what was and is now KidKapri's. All 3 have the same premise: Teleporting and Redeeming. But what I see that makes them different from each other (other than the obvious maps sizes, number of bots, number of people allowed to play at one time and all the little things that happen before a game starts) is that a majority of the people playing redeemer are playing at the Curious George's Redeemer Server. And not at the other two sites/servers....So the similarity/sameness (no different) I see in ClanDOU and KId's, that I mentioned earlier, is that no one is playing at these 2 servers. As for me...I frequent CG because there are less bots and more people playing, compared to the other 2 servers. |

Maybe because kids has been down for a while and everyone assumed it was still down and because it has a different name, at the time most people played there was CG, NWRO, Kids, And if you liked Deck maps the original Schwanz i beleve Jargs was popular for a while aswell when NWRO was taken from us then the main 2 were CG & Kids both with i beleve equal ammounts of people my favorite was Kids reason being i had a slightly better connection (130 ping) and i liked the map choice better i like the 1 on 1 maps and hate the big maps but i would genrally play where the people were. Merry xmas all |

As for me...I frequent CG because there are less bots and more people playing, compared to the other 2 servers. This to me is quite interesting because I find the game play worlds better at the other arenas then at CG. I also play at CG but only because that is where the peeps are. It's quite an odd phenomenon and the reason that Cg exists today. CG use to be the "Training Ground" to get people up to sunff so that they could compete at SRA. After a while the old guard that played at SRA decided to start hanging out at CG in order hunt the fresh meat (perhaps this was the plan all along). Anyway as time went by people continued to play at CG but did not return to SRA as often (not really sure why because CG crashed on a regular basis). Shortly after this came the demise of SRA and the birth of NWRO, Deasuns Missile Madness and Kid's Redeemer remix. With all these options you'd have thought that people would move around till they found a server that best suited their style of play and perhaps gave them better game play. But it didn't. Each server had it's select regs but for te most part the old guard SRA members and the next generation CG members all stayed put at CG's. So why the history lesson. Well because I find it amazing that after all this time people still make like CG's is the only game on the block. Like you' the only reason I show up at CG's at all is because that is where the crowd is and for the life of me I could never understand why. For the longest time CG was downright unreliable as a server. It was going down on a regular basis back in the day and to this day is still laggy as all hell. This does not mean that Herm sucks as an Admin it just means that perhaps there are some isp issues or hardware issues in connection to the server. If I had to make an analogy I would compare CG to Microsoft and it's players like MS customers. It provides you with a platform but not a very good one and even when the customers are given alternatives they stick with what they've always known no matter how lame it is. Just my opnion. |

Yeah, people have long complained about the ping or lagg at CG. It has been changed around lots but it never seems to please the majority for long. The main problem with my connection is that it is nothing more than a residential cable connection. The network the server is on is shared by 2-4 OTHER computers in my house at any given moment. I have another server running from the same box too! Remember MHM? It is alive and well thank you. It is on the same computer as CG and both use the same network card and bandwidth as one another. My wife doesn't understand that when she starts uploading baby pictures to show people that it effects the game too. I use the server as a location to back up my main machine to once a month also. There's always plenty of things going on here that compete for upload bandwidth and processor cycles on the servers. CG did use to crash all of the time too. Way too many changes in effect on a regular basis without any built in controls to return to a better setup if a new twist went wrong. Now, CG is solid as a rock unless I turn the AC off on a hot day. It will lock up then. Other than that, it won't turn off unless I have a power failure, heat wave, or I actually shut it down. It runs so good now that I forget to check it sometimes days at a time. I never worry about the map cycle at all any more. I have changed the maps out entirely before just to have people complain to put the old ones back. I've had over 250+ maps before and had people ask for more though map vote would show 70 of the maps were never played in the last 30 days. I have a great selection of maps I think. I have maps that cover every type of map available. I don't think CG is the most popular redeemer server. Both NWRO and Kidcapri's servers had more than my share of traffic and I did watch this closely. I admit it. I didn't build my server so it could be ignored just as no one else built theirs just to sit there empty. I think CG is populated because at this point it has been around the longest. It has an IP address that stays pretty steady too though it is dynamic. Mostly though I think it is the type of people that play there are pretty cool. So, it's your fault people and let me just say Thank you for that! I have tried to help every person who has asked for it when it comes to setting up these servers. I don't want to be the only one around. I want an active server but I don't care about whether it is the busiest. Now, the MHM server, that is a different story. I'm trying hard to make it one of the best. I seem to be at a steady 3rd place usually with it. Not bad. It is pretty busy usually. MHM has built a name for itself quietly. Life is good. This is long enough. Bye! |

I'm still fairly new here and I had no idea that at one time CG was somewhat of a "training ground" for the newbies (fresh meat...lol). So thanks for the history lesson. And it makes sense to, servers as well as everyone that plays here have to go through a initiation period. I think Herm has done a great job and the popularity of his servers will also tell us that. And I also like your theory on why people left the other servers and starting playing at CG. Makes you wonder what the future will hold with the return of Kid and the presence of ClanDou? As for me, I'm tried all three and I'll say with CG...less bots makes for a fairer game in my opinion. Thanks Herm.... |

Post subject: | LOL so somebody finally found it ;) |
Damn....I minimized this window and then came back to finish up the post and as soon as I clicked submit I got taken back to the login screen. Oh well time to retype the small novel I had going. First things first.......MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR! Now for the important stuff. LOL well it looks like good ole Jarg wins the prize! The server is definately back up and running now and actually has been running now for about 3 weeks or so. There are two reasons I turned the server back on and here they are: #1 - I thought I would be nice and give the machine that the server was on to my mother since she has a very old and slow machine. My offer was declined and she said she thought the jester was nice but she had planned on getting a machine that was alittle more up to date in the next few months anyway. So now I have a machine sitting here collecting dust. #2 - After sitting out for about 3 weeks to a month of not playing UT99 I got bored one night and figured I would see if anybody was around. Low and behold there were 8 ppl playing on CG and a few regs I haven't seen in awhile so I ventured in to take a peek. Mah and Silentbob were on along with some others I can't recall off hand. Gameplay was going fine until all the sudden the pings went off the scale. My usual 50-80 ping was now sitting around 600+ along with everybody else. A few ppl including myself grumbled about this for a few minutes so I took at quick look and sure enuff MHM had a full house also. I stuck around for another few minutes on CG to see if it would get better which it would for a minute or two then BAM right back to the pings from hell. Nothing like shooting a missle....hearing the noise then 3-5 seconds later the missle leaves the gun. I'm not here to knock on Herm's server but with the senario above popping up from time to time over at CG and the server computer not going to my mother's house I cranked it up to have a place to play where I would actually have some control. To find the server you can either read back on Nameless's post or if you don't feel the need to scroll back up the best way to find it would be click on Deathmatch.......click to sort by name and it should show up on the very first page. There is a 1 space in front of the "The" in the name. Sorry I never annouced it being back up to the world but I thought it would be neat just to see how long it would take to be found by the group. The server is set as a high paced redeemer server and always has and will be. I'm not a fan of big maps even tho there are a few on the server. The bot count is high which I think keeps the game going pretty fast and it doesn't stagnate (SP). Nothing more annoying than spending 10 minutes looking for your first kill. Due to the speed and high bot count I raised the frag limit to 40 instead of 30. And the MOTD on the server reads roughly like this: "If your offended by nudity, profanity or the vuglar display of power then don't let the door hit ya in the A$$" This pretty much refers to the way I run my ship. When it comes to rules on the server you pretty much can get away with murder for the most part at my place. In other words I'm as loose running the server as a 3 dolla hooka ;) So in finishing this up I got to give props for the thanks I have received. They ment alot to me. Now y'all have 3 different redeemer servers to choose from. So if CG is full and your not wanting to play over at ClanDOU's server then look me up in the yellow pages for a good backup place to play. I'll try and keep an eye on the server to make sure its up and running because like any good Windows machine it will crash and burn from time to time LMAO. Best to date uptime for the server was 25 days and would have been up longer but I opened a program on the computer and it hogged up the ram and sent the SOB into virtual memory mode in a nutshell which slowed everything down to a standstill. Enjoy! |<idC P.S. Jarg for the love of God please kill that avatar you have LOL. What happened to all those lovely scandally dressed females you use to have? |
