Okay folks... Time to put up or shut up.
How does a tournament with 12 per side or heck, an all out WAR with 24 people sound?
Put the lotion down, Mah.

If Tommy agrees to it, it could be the BIGGEST redeemer tourney EVER.
I, for one, will gladly do it.

Anyone else wanna join?

This sounds pretty interesting. I won't play but I will follow how it goes. 24 players on Tommy's server? That's amazing to me. What kind of connection is he on that supports that? My neighbor and I are considering going in on a T1 but that will still be a while. Work is talking about giving me a T1 so I can work from home too so I'm hopeful at that end too.

Back to this dance though. Who's in?

I just threw up 24 as a number off the top of my head. The server will do up to 32 people (UT99 limit) however. So we can accomidate a large match as necessary. Of course the right maps would be necessary or it would be bedlam

hmmm 32 players now that is interesting :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

In response to this thread:

http://www.clandou.com/forum/viewtopic. ... b95ba0bdcb

I said this:

I'll take the lead right here and say we want to do it often and we want to do it starting next Friday night between 7:00 and 10:00 PM Central Standard time. You folks determine the maps. Group <SRA> does not wear clan skins as they are not a clan. Over all, I don't so much think it's team against team as the <SRA> has always been a one for all kind of group more than a all for one group. That said, I don't think it really matters to <SRA> players who wins as much as it does that people just show up and play. The fact that DOU clan does have skins makes it pretty clear too as to who plays for who since I'd imagine that the DOU clan skins have some sort of uniform look where <SRA> will look random. I will also speak up for <SRA> when I say that the maps don't matter at all to us but many of the <SRA> folks really like the small insane maps. Many prefer large maps so it shouldn't matter what you play. Lastly, I think that someone from DOU should keep score. This will be easy. Just play or spectate all of the games during 7-10 PM. Screenshot the scoreboard at the end of each game. At end of night tally up any way you want. Me, I'd say whoever wins that map wins that round for their team. So say 20 games are played and a DOU player scores first place in 14 of those maps, then the final score is Dou 14 <SRA> 6. Or you could actually tally it up the more precise and painstaking way by displaying the final scores of all games or whatever. Just brainstorming here. I will post this on the other forum as well.

So team <SRA>, they mentioned that the player load can support 32. I have never played this mod with that many players before and will actually join this if it looks like it will happen (which it does!) because I am dying to see this. I want to respectfully request that as many of you who can, that you join in this insanity with me and lets have a literal BLAST! Consider this an RSVP section and mention spefically if you can make it to what will be the first of hopefully many tourneys hosted by Tommy and the DOU Clan. We'll do this again I'm sure and I know many of you won't be able to make it for the first run being this close to Christmas but let us know if you can and then be damn sure to show up to the right place at the right time if you can. This could be really huge and I want to be a part of it for sure. Don't you?

After I posted my response here from there, iwent back and posted this after they had replied:

So that is what I said over there at RedeemerInsanity. Now here( at DOU forum), all I can ask is that Tommy gets everything else in order which in my opinion is pretty simple. Set the max player load to 32. DOU Clan elects a score keeper from their team and has that person play or spectate and screen shot the scoreboard after each game. Set the MapVote to not replay the same map for about as many maps as he expects we may go through in 3 hours. Set Max game time to 15 minutes per map. In fact here is another idea. Don't use mapvote at all. Reboot the server at 7:00 PM Friday night. That will start the tourney with only the maps people want in the cycle. No mapvote, just about 36 good maps of all sizes and types. At 10:00 PM or when the server starts to play the first map again, the tourney is over and the score is tallied and posted. Done! What do you think!!!

OK, So that is what Isaid over there. I think I've said and begged enough. I think the paln is good and able. I think amny of you are good and able. I have an exit stategy. It's all good. It should pretty much just happen. See you there!

Then isaid this to a question from Tommy about the Tourney and whether it would be DOU Clan VS <SRA> or just a free for all and he wanted to know how many players would show up. My answer:

Hey Tommy, great questions. I don't know and I don't feel at liberty to decide for the whole <SRA> group. It is an interesting concept of having a true tourney with team vs team but this mod doestn't play like that. Spawn killing is the greatest aspect of scoring as anyone here would agree. Since it based on the first player up to we'll say 30 then it doesn't matter who you kill whether they are on your team or not. Also consider this, unless it were CTF, there is really no way to make this a team tourney being they are all DM maps which means anyone can spawn anywhere which again dictates that it can't be really team based. It should be a show up and play free for all with the overall winner of each map being the team of the player who wins. Even that is ugly to really think about. This should just be a giant free for all that everyone can enjoy. The end. My guess is that for this first time around with Christmas being so close that only 1/2 of the future numbers of player will show up. That means in my opinion about 16-20 will make it this first tourney. I don't know for sure but I am pretty sure that this will grow weekly provided it stays constant as far as times go. After this one, the night should be changed to Sturday night 7-100 pm.

Now for this post Ihave to mention that on another forum there is discussion about the times not being cool for the people over the great ponds. What is a good time tha twill make the tourney best for the most people? Wha ttime is it in France and England at say 3:00 PM Central standard time. Noon? If we change the future time for this giant pow-wow to cater to our distant fraggers then this will have to be held on Saturdays after this one coming up. But at what time???

cant speak for moon/lepoloo 100% but as i mentioned in the other thread we do play pretty late upto 1am or so given 1/2 hour here or there so in U.S A central time that would be around 6pm but personally would like that to be finishing time.

I'm tired of relaying all of the tourney info back and forth between all the different forums so here is my plan. The tourney is being hosted by DOU Clan. We should track on it at their forum from here on out. I will only post about it there except known results after the tourney will get posted at the House of Hermskii Forum and at www.RedeemerInsanity Forum as well. I have mentioned the time dispairity at RedeemerInsanity but not at Dou Clan's forum. Please cut and paste your concerns there to have them heard. I hope you all get in on this when you can. It's going to be fun! Here is a link to the main thread that has most off all of the information about this giant tourney.

Thank you.

I am happy to see that it is cranking up. Thanks for taking the lead in this, Herm. My job was to plant the seed.
My only concern is that we get a lot of takers, but nobody shows. This is finally the chance to see the skills that you have. I would think that the loop of poop will reign supreme, but the person (team) that can overcome that will earn the Redeemer crown.

Also, I would like to suggest that all people interested in participatin in the tourney start playing on the DOU server. This is to give you an idea of how well you play. I say this because Leepoloo, Darkmatter, The One, and Germania humbled me today. After playing with the new crowd on CG, it was enlightening to see just how much I suck :blackeye:
