Being a huge boxing fan I watched the Wright VS Salomon fight tonight on HBO for one of the middleweight championship belts. As expected, Winky Wright (one of the greatest pound for pound boxers) won the fight by decision. The #1 ranked challenger (Salomon) came out fighting! The odd part is this: In track and field when you run a short race you come out of the starting blocks at full speed. When you run a long distance race, you come off of the blocks at a controlled pace. This fight being a championship fight was scheduled for 12 rounds instead of the normal 10 rounds. That's why they call the 11th and 12th round championship rounds. This guy Salomon came out fighting as if this were a 100 yard dash instead of a 26 mile race. The funny thing was that he was unorthodox as hell and was odd just to watch as he threw punches from every angle while jumping and spinning and twisting the whole time through the first round. The champion didn't know what to do but knew that no psycho could maintain all of the flurries this guy was throwing for long. The champ sat back to let the challenger punch himself out while the sport reporters all laughed at the challengers style. Round one ended and though it is too late to keep this short the next round came and went and so on until about the 8th round when the challenger was still going like the energizer bunny. Larry Merchant finally said the challenger must be eating Vegemite or something to explain how he could possibly still be fighting so hard. He also said that eating Vegemite was like eating a spoonful of salt but it didn't taste as good! That is all. I just wanted to share a way that your gaming and forum lives made it into my real life through the lives of professional boxers. Sorry if you weren't around here long enough to know what Vegemite is and what I'm talking about. Later! PS: http://www.vegemite.com.au/ |

I saw that Herm! Pretty funny, lol. Larry Merchant is pretty quick-witted for being the slowest-talking man on the planet. |

Nope, Idon't know the boxer you are speaking of but as far as the style this guy used, the closest style in boxing to it would be Prince Nasim Hamed's. Don't get me wrong here. The prince was fun to watch but he was really good in a Pernel Witaker kind of motion. This guy I'm speaking of looked like he was drunk. Samuel Lewis, the former trainer for the Prince said of this other boxer that he looked like he come in off the street and had less than a total of 5 boxing matches under his belt. He looked very amatuerish. Still, the gut had come into the fight winning his last 19 fights and he hit Winky Wright 10 times more than Felix Trinidad over hoped to hit Winky. |

As an American, I can say that vegemite is an acquired taste. But I keep a jar in my kitchen nonetheless. :) |
