Well it has been a week now and my server is sitting on the start up map still......

This is partly to blame thanks to the lovely power company not being able to keep the power at a constant. I have a new IP address needless to say and here it is:

After a weeks worth of non-traffic I'm being to wonder if anybody really cares one way or the other. I'm to the point where I don't give a sh!@#$#t one way or the other. Depending on how much traffic I receive in the next week or two will determine if I keep this server up. I'm not here to try and steal away anybody's players (herm) but if the server is not going to get any play then I'm gonna move on to bigger and better things.... In other words.....no more Kidcapri's redeemer nothing....

For the hell of it over the weekend I cranked up the sniper mod I've had laying around forever. This was at the request of a few of the regs. I haven't dug thru the log files to see if anybody actually played on the server (just call me lazy) so I have no clue if anybody actually got on or not during this time.

I'm not mad or pissed so if anybody reads this please don't take it that way at all. I think I'm finally getting to the point were UT99 just doesn't tickle my fancy like it use to. Just consider this more as a vent than anything..........all it takes is a hellish week's worth of crap at work to get me into this sort of mood and a 6 pack isn't helping the matter either. YES I CAN TYPE AFTER A 6 PACK OF BEER........it's call PROOF READING! ;)

ANYWAYS.... its up and running. If you feel the need to get on and play please do so.....if not then POOF!

I bet it just rebooted or something and that is wjy it is on the same map. Keep it running and make sure it is visible two. On the other note about it just not being what it used to be, that is true for all of the old time regs I think. I still enjoy it but the kid and other more important things keeps me away often. I'll be drinking beer all weekend and I will be working on a few request myself if time permits. Later! Do what your lover said and keep it up.

Ok this is the second go around ..... Had a long 2nd post typed out to this and my damn computer decided that it needed to hang and reboot all by itself.....grrrrrr so now ya get the cliff note version of it.

Basically I realized tonight that I haven't hardly been playing this game lately and have gotten totally involved in my little family and friends. UT which use to take up alot of my time is just an afterthought it seems.

The server will be around at least until the end of the year then I am probably gonna pull it down if not before hand. Maybe find something else to use the box for or hand it off to my mother which could use a better computer than she has right now.

There was a joke or two in it but a headache and too much adult beverage have that part alittle foggy. Oh well...

The great times are gone, it's sure (and I haven't known the best years but only since september 2003 I think) but I've got lots of fun on your server and CG and the first I knew : NWRO... that made me fall in love with that game.
I'm still in love but I agree : I don't see many ppl on your server and I'm sad of it.
It's been times with ppl on both servers... I miss those times !

I'm glad to find players on CG but I know that some of them prefer your server (supposed to have less lag). Some players were noobs a few weeks or months ago and are getting pretty good regulars. MAY BE THEY DON'T KNOW YOUR SERVER !!???

Herm helped me to set a deemer server and I had it done. But I asked all our people not to come on the forum to say where it is and which IP or name it has. I've seen BK, MEAT and other regs (sometimes) and Darkmatter (regulary) there but more often on the sniper server than on deemer one !
But I have to admit that actually, UT99 sniping servers are always full house and some I know are really fun.
I play about half time on deemer and half on sniper.

I didn't understand all of what you said in your first post especially about sniping ?... Coz my english often shows it's limits !

The idea I got is : why wouldn't you try to take off your redeemer server FOR A WHILE, doing a sniper one to replace it and after a time, you see if the forum wants you back as a deemer server or if more people are ok in sniping at your home ?....
I could help showing you some of sniping servers I know that you could more or less "copy" to be full house too !
And I think it would be agreat pleasure if a mass of regs post here to ask deemer back !!!

But how I love to play deemer again and again !!! Yesterday, I played 5 or 6 games on CG and it was my day : I won about 5/6 (Deaman Walking was there abd some "new regs") and then, I left the server not to see the others leave ! I know how it's frustrating for noobs when someone wins every game ! LOL

Damn, I'll write a real newspaper !!! So, that was my reflexion... But you know, CG has spent a looooong empty time a few months ago and now it's ok. Time goes on with waves !

Last thing I still love your server and CG (and our "secret one") but my problem is my timezone !... I have to be awake till 4:00 AM if I want more players !!...

Hey Kid I got on and played the other day, but ended up playing DM-Agony 3 times in a row. And the map vote window wouldn't come up so I could change the map. It just kept cycling Agony over and over.......help any?

After getting to work this morning and reading the post SoReal wrote I do believe she has hit the nail on the head so to speak.

In other words the problem isn't nobody is playing on the server......the problem is my DUMBA$$ FORGOT TO TURN ON MAPVOTE.......god I'm a freakin idiot! I got on the server just to make sure it was working last night in my drunken stupor and played about 15 seconds of the map just to make sure it was running. Didn't realize that flipping it back from a sniper server to redeemer I had forgotten to add the MapVote back in the list. I will rectifiy this problem when I get off of work today and life will be good again for awhile.

God......I'm an idiot and after reading my first post feel like an even bigger idiot..... It wasn't ment to hurt feelings or anything nasty but basically what happens when you mix a rough weeks worth of work, too much beer and a few minor health problems I've had to face this week (nothing serious just annoying stuff). I must appoligize for my behavior in this instance but I guess it makes for a good read if you want to look at it in that sort of light LOL.

But yeah I've been playing this game for what now seems like forever. The game was introduced to me by good ole "Death_Inc." a long time ago back when it was Schwantz/CG/MM were the main ones. I remember months and months of fustration trying to figure out just how to take more than a step before flying apart in little bits. I've seen and watched all the changes over the years and have been mostly happy with the way it has all gone for the most part. I'm not quitting the game at all.....it will always have a place on any harddrive I ever use. But like I said the luster to me has just kinda fallen on the way side. I can't recall any other game that is this old that I have every played this much in my life.

The server will stay up like I said until the end of the year basically. I have been debating on giving my mother that box to replace one she has (old compaq 333mhz) which is about to die at any given time for almost 6 months now. She does use it fairly often actually but is always complaining about the problems with it so I figured I would help her out in that way. Unless she gets crazy and decides she wants to buy one then I will be handing it over to her. Just trying to be a good son I guess :)

I guess life has just finally pushed me in a direction where games are not the driving force in my life which is good change I guess. I still play games but no where near the length of time I use to in the past. Actually the game I've been playing the most recently is on a console if you can believe it.....Grand Turismo 4. I usually only get to sit down and play about twice a week and its only for about an hour a pop. Death figured out how to play the game online (the game wasn't designed for online play at all) so that's what we have been doing.

Alittle FYI on that......if you have pretty much any console - Xbox, PS2, PSP, Gamecube - you can download a program for your computer called Xlink and play all the network/online games that way. GT4 is a LAN only type game but with that program it basically sets up a WAN and makes the game thing its a LAN which is pretty damn cool. All those xbox live games you have to PAY to play with friends can be played on using this program without having to pay the Microsoft Tax which I thought was pretty damn funny.

Also besides stuff like that I've been hanging out alot with a group of people dealing with a local car club down here. Needless to say I'm the oldest in the group but the guy that runs the club has a 5 year old daughter and my 4 year old every time I get her now instantly ask if we can go see her. Kids.....ya got to love'm :) That and I've also become one of the most ancey (sp) people around and can't seem to sit around the house for more than an hour before I go stir crazy and have to do something or go somewhere......usually its me getting out of the house.

I could go on and on about other stuff that has kept me busy lately but this post might turn into a small novel pretty quickly so I won't bore ya with anymore of the details. Well I guess that about wraps it up for now and Thanks for putting up with the wonder drunk.

As the end of the year rolls closer I will keep everybody informed on what is happening.

Other than that I was playing your server all the time, but 24/7 DM-Agony is just a bit much. Bad enough the regs on CG aways want to play the same 8 maps or so.

I completely understand where you are coming from. I do not even have UT installed on any of my computers anymore. I just lost interest, and found a new pastime.

Gotta do what ya gotta do. I will miss the KidCapris server very much. It was my first foray into the world of 'Deemers. Turned me on to the CG servers as well as DOU. Have "met" a bunch of great folks and got to frag them as well (LOL).

As always thank you very much for the good times. Hate to see it go. Change happens!

Hahahaha! That is funny Kid. Great post too. Upgrade to MapVote 3.04 while you're at it. It is much better. All things come to an end but I'm glad your staying the course till end of year at least. I think it's a great server. Many folks prefer it to since they get a better ping and newer/different maps. You have run tight ship and I'm sure whatever you decide that it will be the right thing for you. You could just swap out PC's with your mom and run it from hers. I ran CG from a Compaq DeskPro 2000 (200Mhz Pentium) for well over a year before. A 333 would still run sweet as it is really all almost about the connection. Later!
