You should have installed the latest updates on your computer, eg Windows XP users should have installed Service Pack 2. If your operating system is not up to date, we may not be able to help.
Please don't run an anti-virus check or spyware removal tool immediately before running the HijackThis program. This may make it more difficult to analyse your log. However, at all other times, you should update these programs and run them on a regular basis.
Installing HijackThis
1) If you do not have a copy of HijackThis or do not have the latest version (1.99.1) then download it from here:
HijackThis
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/files/Merijn/hijackthis_sfx.exe
2) Double-click on the file you've just downloaded and click on the UnZip button to install the program. It will be installed to the C:\Program Files\HijackThis\ folder by default.
3) Start HijackThis and click the Do a system scan and save a log button to perform a scan and create a log file. When the scan is complete, Notepad will open up with the log file in it. While in Notepad, press Ctrl-A to select all text and then Ctrl-C to copy the text to the clipboard.
4) POST the log in your existing thread by clicking Post Reply in the top right of my post, or if you have not posted a Hijack This Log before, by clicking Post in the Top left of the Hijack this forum
5) In the data-entry window, press Ctrl-V to paste the log into the window. Add any other comments which you believe might be helpful in our analysis and click the Post Reply button.
6) Any follow up postings should be made as replies to your original thread. If you can't find your original post, go to Who's online in the links at the top, click your username, and click Show All Users posts. This will bring up a list of your posts, find the appropriate post and click the link.
7) The HijackThis helpers on this forum are volunteers, so please treat them with respect. If there is a delay responding to your post, please be patient. Do not send your HijackThis log to helpers or moderators in a private message.
Good hunting, Skank
