Due to all of the discussion recently about the possibility that the administrator passwords have been given out to people who shouldn't have them, I have changed them and plan on not giving them out for a while. This will help me to determine if the servers security have some how been compromised. The logs don't reflect that anyone who shouldn't have the passwords have logged in as admins.

Additionally, since I recruited all of the admins that have been monitoring these servers I have also installed several mods that take all of the guess work out of who needs to be kicked and who needs to be banned and all of that. I think that I have already pretty much covered all of the bases that were needed to even have admins on the servers. I think the only reason to have any admins besides me at this point is in case a map gets stuck and needs to get changed. Even that can be done with a simple 51% majority vote via MapVote. Are there any other reasons that you people can think of that would dictate the continued need of remote administrators? Please let me know. Thank you.

Hey Herm

Makes sense.

Can you up the player count to 12? Or does that create too much lag still?

I feel everyones pain as far as the new MapVote goes but it provides far more +'s than -'s which dictates that it stays.

Positives:

Server hardly ever crashes anymore at map switch.
Ability to see who tries to kick who.
Automatically removes maps that crash from the cycle.
Has lots of other cool features I haven't used yet.

Negatives:

Takes up the whole screen.
Can't remove the columns I don't use.

In short, it stays.

Well no admins have the login so it must be hermskii giving him it either that or somethings going wrong with the server or he's hacking in

Dammmm !... curious thing !!!Image

Herm, you'll have to be on line a few and if you see Dondon (or "it_is_" a new name he took today playing with Mah and I) you kick him to see if you can but not being the admin ! You should be an anonymous player !.. If you can't kick him : he's a hacker !!!??? I can't believe he could be smart enough !
We all have to be Sherlock Holmes !!!...Image

Mickey, was Dondon's name written in white on score board ?

Don't let him fool ya. I just do not think that English is his primary language. I think he is pretty sharp. And remember, he can read these boards just like anyone else.

No one is logged in as Admin. It is a bug. I've seen it myself trying to kick myself when Iwas not logged in as admin. I will have it worked out soon enough along with a few other bugs that aren't hurting anyone. No one has the password but me right now. No one. Thank you.

You know I really don't remember. That's why I noted the time. I figure the server log would "tell all". Whoever it was used the name DonDon. That's all I know. Could have been anyone useing his nick.

You know Herm, that's kind of what I suspected. Never happened with the old mapvote. BUT !!!! If that's the only "downfall" to the new mapvote, it's still worth it. I like the new one MUCH better. Most of the silly ( unnecessary ) kick voting has stopped.

I always thought the kick voting was funny. But it's funnier now!

There's always a "Player" listed in mapvote, which is the ghost of the admin, I think. If you try to kick "Player," mapvote will say you placed a kickvote against yourself.
