Hey, I have a extra DVD Player I put in an extra PC but when I put a DVD in it, it can't play it saying that Windows Media Player can't find the DVD software that must be installed for it to work. I'm not stupid. I know I need a program but all of them cost money. Who has a free one that isn't full of spam or require me to register somewhere or will expire after 30 days. In short, I'm looking for something like Win DVD I think. Help. Thanks! |

Hey Jarg, Thanks, Tell me though, What is this? Lets say I build a PC and I put in a DVD player that came in a Dell I had a year ago. By default, if I put in a DVD, it won't play saying it needs the decoder software. If I install this package, it will play the DVD? I don't want to come across as being stupid but I'm wondering if I will use this next time since I already found a Windows Media Player solution that worked pretty well. Is your version legal? Does it auto update or come with spam or time limits for usage before requiring purchase? What do you know about this? Thanks! |

Find and download klcodec250f.exe http://www.smartdownloads.net/download-26805.html When I occsionally have troubles playing DVD's its nearly alway Codec related. K-Lite Codec Pack is a collection of codecs and related tools. Codec is short for Compressor-decompressor. Codecs are needed for encoding and decoding (playing) audio and video. The K-Lite Codec Pack is designed as a user-friendly solution for playing all your movie files. With the K-Lite Codec Pack you should be able to play 99% of all the movies that you download from the internet. The K-Lite Codec Pack has a couple of major advantages compared to other codec packs: - Media Player Classic - DivX Pro [Decoding] - DivX Pro [Encoding] - XviD [Decoding] - XviD [Encoding] - 3ivX Pro [Decoding] - 3ivX Pro [Encoding] - Windows Media 9 VCM - Windows Media - On2 VP3 - On2 VP6 [Decoding] - On2 VP6 [Encoding] - Ligos Indeo XP - Intel Indeo - Intel Indeo - Intel I.263 - huffyuv - MS MPEG-4 - DivX ;) MPEG-4 Low and Fast motion - Cyberlink DVD decoder - Elecard MPEG-2 demuxer - MainConcept MPEG-2 demuxer - Ligos MPEG-2 decoder - Cyberlink MPEG-2 decoder - MainConcept MPEG-2 decoder * Fraunhofer MP3 DirectShow decoder * WMA DirectShow decoder * AC3 DirectShow decoder * AC3 ACM decoder * Ogg Vorbis DirectShow decoder (CoreVorbis) * AAC DirectShow decoder (CoreAAC) * 3ivX Pro [Decoding] * 3ivX Pro [Decoding] * Nero Digital MPEG-1/2 decoder * MusePack DirectShow decoder * Voxware DirectShow decoder * Monkey's Audio DirectShow decoder * DivX ;) Audio * LAME MP3 Encoder * Ogg DirectShow splitter and Vorbis DLLs * Matroska DirectShow splitter * Matroska DirectShow muxer * DirectVobSub (vsfilter) * Matrix Mixer * SHOUTcast Source * Morgan Multimedia Stream Switcher * DivX Anti-Freeze * GSpot Codec Information Appliance * FourCC Changer * Bitrate Calculator Hope this helps. If not let me know. You might try some decrypting software. Works really nice if you want to copy a DVD. Enjoy, Skank |

It is a free, open source media player. There are no legal issues and as far as spam, none so far. It is not perfect by any means, but it can play most forms of media out there. This is recomended by a lot of folks, and I use it myself. Also gonna give Fluffy's a shot as well. I find myself going more and more to the open source apps out there, as they are almost as good as the ones you can buy, and they are free. An example: http://www.openoffice.org/ |

Dark Hey Dark, It's been some time since I installed them but I have no memory of having to dick around as to where to install. I think it might have been just the ol' double click. |

Might I suggest for those toying with playing, burning and/or backing up their DVD collection. http://www.slysoft.com/en/anydvd.html AnyDVD is a driver, which unprotects DVD-Movies automatically in the background. This DVD appears unprotected and region code free for all applications and the Windows operating system as well. With AnyDVD's help copy tools like CloneDVD, Pinnacle Instant Copy, InterVideo DVD-Copy, etc. are able to copy CSS protected Movies. With the help of AnyDVD you can watch movies with non matching region codes with every DVD Player Software you like! AnyDVD decrypts not just DVDs: AnyDVD allows you also to play, copy and rip protected Audio CDs! But AnyDVD does much more, of course. For example, it is possible to control the rotational speed of your DVD drive, so you can watch DVDs on your PC with far less noise! AnyDVD is the perfect Add-On for your HTPC (Home Theater PC). It can prevent the automatic launch of software from your Video DVDs (e.g., PC-Friendly) and you can start user defined programs on disc insertion and removal. AnyDVD can adjust your monitor's vertical refresh rate (e.g. 72 Hz with NTSC and 75 Hz with PAL) automatically if you wish! AnyDVD can remove unwanted user prohibitions, e.g. it removes forced subtitles or it lets you skip copyright messages and FBI Warnings. http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/dvd43.cfm DVD43 is a small tool that integrates into Windows and overrides copy-protection mechanisms found on DVD-Video discs (namely, CSS) and DVD region limitations (in case you have RPC-2 DVD drive). You are my hero Thank you. I Just happen to beleive that with what DVD's cost you should be able to back up the originals, play the copies and save the originals for when the copies get boogerd up. If you have kids and grand kids they will get gooberd and boogerd up. Enjoy, Skank |

I grabbed two of these. I'll save them for a rainy day. My solution that I used for this issue was a Windows Media Player Plug-In. It worked and that was all I needed. Still this is lots of great info Skank! Thanks to everyone who helped! Later. |

This is another great thread. I have a 2 1/2 year old boy....good god.... He loves watching the dvd collection of disney and other cartoons that my wife and I collected for our future kids.... little did we consider that they also like playing with the dvds....great. 2 dvds so far (lucky) are completely unplayable.....there goes 40 bucks. This little program listed by fluff works great with my neodvd.... My pleasure Bigs. Have you tried "DVD X Rescue" to copy the 2 DVD's that are completely unplayable? Runs really slow but I think thats part of how it works reading and rereading over and over until its ready to burn. Last bunch of Disney DVD's I bought was from a guy that shipped them out of Hong Kong. Nice collection may not all really Disney though. Check it out: 1. Bambi 2. Cinderella 3. Pinocchio 4. Peter Pan 5. Dumbo 6. Sleeping Beauty 7. The Sword in the Stone 8. Alice in Wonderland 9. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Sleeping Beauty 10. The Fox and the Hound 11. Fantasia 12. Lady and the Tramp 13. The Three Caballeros 14. An Officer and a Duck 15. Mickey & Minne 16. The Three Little Pigs 17. Goofy Sport 18. Gulliver’s Travels 19. Life with Mickey Town 20. Donald Duck & The Gorilla 21. Casper’s 22. Felix the Cat 23. Daffy Duck 24. The Tortoise and the Hare All for $39.80 USD including shipping. Another great deal (at least I think so) was The X-Files Seasons 1-9 DVD X Files Box Set BRAND NEW for $147.99 USD including shipping. Though there is a set on EBay right now for $139.90 USD including shipping. Now you got me going. Popped over to EBay for some early Christmas shopping. Picked up The Complete Monty Python's Flying Circus 14 DVD Box Set for $59.90 USD including shipping. One gift down, many more to go. Gotta streach those dollars kiddos |
