I got hit with the virus that is spreading across the internet today. It trashed the boot sector of my hard drive. All is well now, after a reformat. Please see the Microsoft article below to prevent this from hitting you.
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/Bulletin/MS05-039.mspx

To remove it, see this.
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.zotob.removal.tool.html

There is another variant out there as well. to remove it:

Good luck.

Sorry to hear the bad news Jarg.

Microsoft releases all of their patches on the second Tuesday of the month. Need to patch your systems by Wednesday ow you will be owned. There is a thread running around here about anti-virus and anti-spyware. Live it, Learn it, Love it. The virus folks suck but that is the way of life on the net in 2005. Sad but true.

If any of yall have problems let me know. I am an IT tech and work in the security world alot these days. WIll be happy to help. I have a post in floating around about my personal favorite programs. The only one that is not free is TrendMicro Internet Security Suite. I get it free from work but would pay for it if needed. Best AV program out there. REALLY updates itself with no muss no fuss.

The more vulnerable PCs out there the more problems we all have. A few FPS is worth peace of mind.

Later yall.

Thanks for the headsup Jarg. I got my update notice from Micro$oft earlier in the week, but checked again just now to be sure I was up to date.
Norton had an update on Tuesday, as well as their usual Wednesday one.

I hope you were still backing stuff up regularly, so that the reformat wasn't too painful. :angry3:

Somehow, I knew our FAH friend would have some input on this :cyclopsani:

Either way, the system was up and running last night.... Just had to install all of Microsoft's security patches.

I should be done by April 2006 dink
