I'm having trouble getting the *.umod 's to install. I double click and windows wants me to pick an appropriat program to open said file. Any suggestions short of stripping and reinstalling Unreal?

Mucho gracias me amigos, Skank 8)

Ran into this myself a while ago. Had to re-install the game. :(

I have this problem on XP myself. But I found that double clicking the umod brings up the menu that Skank mentioned. Then I select Setup as the program to run the umod. Works like a charm. :D

Thank you one and all.

1) a nameless entity, the Setup you mentioned, I presume is the one found in the C:\UnrealTournament\System folder. If so it told me to go pound salt. And yes it is XP.

2) Lady Sci, thank you, but it is not limited to any one umod file. I tested several to insure I wasn't attempting to install a corrupt file/mod. But for the heck of it the file was MonsterHunt.umod

3) Mortis, looks like I'll propably have to take that long dark road to reinstall all the maps, skins, voice packs & mods as you had. We must, indeed, all hang together or, most assuredly, we shall all hang separately.

Again thanks to all, Skank

Hey Fluffy,

That problem is normal. Here is what happened. Once upon a time you installed UT most likely to c:\unrealtournament. Then you had to back it up or move it somewhere and when you restored it or copied to another location, the file associations didn't move too and that is why now when you click umod it doesn't know what to do. I'm not guessing this. This is exactly true. So, you can hunt around and try to find the fix on line or do what I do. I make a folder on my C drive and call it "Don't Use". Then I reinstall UT but to that folder and not to the default location it will automatically pick which will always be either c:\unrealtournament OR the exact path that you last installed UT to. Once you install UT to the new folder I mentioned, UMOD files will work again properly but beware: They will try to install by default to the "Don't Use" folder. Make sure any umod you install is pointed to your player install of UT. That is a perfect solution to this problem. Good luck.

That ain't the file. Unzip the Umod somewhere convenient on your hard disk. Leave it there. Now do the following:

1)double left click on the umod.

2)If the umod doesn't start up, and windoze asks you to select a program from a list, choose "setup".

3)That should start the umod. Then if the location of your Unreal Tournament folder is not found by the umod automatically, type in the correct path manually. Press the "next" button and everything should install.

4) Note that if you have accidently checked the box that says "always use the selected program to open this kind of file", and it was the WRONG program, ie. NOT setup, then you need to figure out how to get around that so that you can use "setup" to run the umod. :?

5) Once you finally get the Monster Hunt mod into your game, install the patch.
