CG has had a good and full ever-evolving life. From the days of the beginning when it was just a tiny spec of a training type server to it's glory days of consistant full houses and much fun for everyone. I'm beginning to have a familiar sensation that maybe it is about time to consider it's future. This reminds me a lot of an email Schwantz sent out a few years ago about SRA.

CG is getting old and has certainly seen the best of it's days but I think it still manages to provide some fun for several folks so my intention is to keep running it but I want everyone to be aware that like Schwantz with SRA, I don't intend to keep up a server that isn't being used enough to justify maintaining it.

Monster Hunt has re-opened my eyes to the concept that there is more out there than just Redeemer Arenas. I'm considering trying additional servers for additional gametypes beyond Monster Hunt in an effort to bring a wider variety of UT fun to our gang here. Since May 18th, 2004 CG has hosted a total of about 17,000 games. That's in 7 months time which isn't it's record but it's pretty good. I've watched as the numbers have dropped more than half which I can't help but to recognize as an indicater to being the final days of CG.

CG has been a driving force for me over the years and I'm very proud of all the good times it has brought so many folks especially me but alas, all good things come to an end in preparation for good things to come. Be aware that when I feel the time is right, just as Schwantz did in the past, there will be a day that I expect CG will be no more. Peace!

it will be a sad day when CG hosts its final game but it has had a good run and i have enjoyed a lot of games on there with many people that i have a great laugh with you have done a great job hermskii for keeping the server running,
Now is it time you got into running a 2k3 redeemer server 2k3 & 2k4 are the new format for Unreal Tournament but it still lacks a good redeemer server Bigi ran one but i cant seem to find it on the list anymore and it seemed to be empty all the time i have been playing binslayer and zark for a while now on a couple of uk servers
but i miss the redeemer its just a shame to see the redeemer arena die.
Best of luck to whatever you decide to do mate

Though I have not played too much in a while, I too will be sad when CG is gone. I can not even begin to calculate the amount of enjoyment that server has given me in the past years, not to mention introducing me to a wonderful group of people. This server is kind of a cult classic. Either you love it, or you hate it. There is no in between.

I do hope that you will not give up hosting entirely. I realise that you may not have as much time in the future as you have before, Herm, but you are a great host.

If and when you decide to take her down, please let us know. I want to be a part of that.

I see that Kid's server almost always has players in it, and it's the same old crowd plus a few new faces as always. Perhaps you could take CG back to its roots, and make it a training server again? To that end I would suggest only or mostly just the larger maps, with a few of the classic small ones like Veridian and Morbius thrown in just to give the newbs a taste of what's to come.

Man, make sure to give us plenty of notice so we can get our fix.

You all remember the screencaps from Schwantz's last hour? This has been the funniest damn game around! People firing tons of missiles off into the air. Blasting the song "Rocket Man" in the background ...

I haven't been on in a while, but I'll log on this weekend. BK reminded me that people are still loitering in the halls.

MonsterHunt is fun, but it's not funny! Nothing has cracked me up so hard as being in a loop or looping someone else. Dropping a deemer on a newb's head from the loft, and getting them pissed -- nothing like it! All these other games are too intense. They're absorbing, but that's kind of exhausting. Redeemers is pure vacation.

Hope to catch you folks on this weekend. :)

Mah

There will be plenty of notice I assure each of you and I expect this won't even take place during the next several months at the soonest hopefully. I still have lotsa to learn before I can turn CG into something else.

Curious George is the neatest thing I have found, everybody that is a regular has been really nice.
I played on the deathmatch servers for awhile and don't remember how I came across CG, but I"m glad I did.
It is really hard to learn (to me) but is well worth perseverance.
I can now win a game every once in a while.
Tonite I learned how to pod in fractal!!!!!!!!!!!!
I saw a player get really po'd about podding the other night, what a riot.
Herm is a great admin, he goes beyond the call.
He overnighted CG files to me when I couldn't get them downloaded.
I play just about every night and always check CG and Kid.
I will continue to play redeemer as long as it is available, but here lately Monster Hunt has taken hold of me.
Anyway, after all the rambling, Kudos to you Herm.
I really appreciate your work.
Bobby

Hmm. I tried to find CG in the server browser, but I did not see it. I also could not see Kids server... Are they down, or renamed, or do I have a problem?
