Can someone send it to me or give me perfect instructions on exactly which one to get? The official site says they are up to ver 2.8 yet I hear that only 2.1 is available. The site is more chinese then english so I'm lost even though I was looking over the english version of the page. Help! Thanks. Some might consider this a race between between Scify, Nameless, and Bigi......hehehe

Um? This can't be all. All that link downloaded was a utjmh.u file. I thought this thing was big like 130 mb and it installs .ini files and stuff like that so I can configure it. There has to be more than just this. Keep Helping!

Keep looking for 2.1, I tried it last night. It was ok, but i think it takes away from actually having to try. Most maps with a good team can be finished inside of 10 minutes. Huge great ones maybe almost an hour. This UTjMH does make it better for those of us going after the monsters alone. How does this sound. Start with 200 health. Get beneath 100 and it regenerates 3 points a sec back up to 100. That's it. No more. So what do you think? I twill keep the game honest in my opion based on testing last night

The way Jackie has his server set up you get a few health points for every monster you kill. This is nice because you can still get killed a lot at his server, but if you get low health you can still avoid respawning by killing monsters. It also comes in handy to be rewarded with extra health for when you want to rocket jump up to the creepinator and instagib on MH-Skywars. ;)

Here is the rest of my argument abount this mod. Consider this:

MH maps are all so very different. Some are short and stupid. Some are short and sweet. Several are good size with good flow and proper monster amounts. Some are huge and boring and as we all know, most of them totally suck or are just broken in the first place. All of the left over maps not mentioned above are pretty ok but vary greatly in size, complexity and numbers of monsters thus the overall challenge. I feel that UTJMH is a good mutator to use if you are playing alone or with bots. With it, you stand to make it more than twice as far with it. If I use it, then the small maps aren't a challenge and bigger but not better ones are just more easily completable. That isn't what I'm aiming for. That it is better for single players is a good point for it but....how many maps are out there that can't be completed? Hardly any. Small maps like "Canyon" are a joke for more than 3 Hunters that know what they are doing. Big maps are a challenge sometimes but not impossible at all. I feel like that if you get health points for killing in addition to total scoring from frags, it would make you not care as much about trying to stay alive. These maps are usually all easy enough with another player. I don't think you need what is really just a partial take off of the "Vampire Mod" where you get health points for removing life from other players. This is the same thing except you get health for killing monsters. It just isn't normal that you'd get more life for killing. It isn't part of any original UT gametype. Double normal health to start with and any kind of health regeneration is already a giant advantage that I don't feel is actually needed for the player who is trying and playing with at least one other person. Even in regular DM the max health attainable is 199. It's bad enough there is gravity control. When was the last time you fell and were able to fall 5ft to the left and then 10 ft to the right before you landed? It just seems to cross the border of gaming realism to me. That's how unatural UTJMH feels to me. I see where I can have random weapons handed out too. Bah! Bah! Bah! It's bad enough that I have weapon stay set to on. Yes it's a team effort but the first one to get and keep and use the weapons deserves to be the winner don't you think? If I use UTJMH, it will be as I described above I think. Already, I can't even find the 2.1 version so if I find it and install it period, certain people will certainly have file mismatches which I can't begin to think how many players can't play my server because of this one reason. Your thoughts? More later, I have to post this before I hit the wrong button and it all erases like what usually happens when I get going like this.

I could agree with you Herm, if the mappers had only placed enough health and ammo here and there in the maps. I think the mutator was created to address the bad planning evident in many of the maps.

Try this scenario: Play any version of MH-City you like alone a few times, then get back to me on how much fun it was for you to respawn back at the start and spend maybe 2 minutes or more hiking back to the freaking action, only to get killed again and then again, ad nauseam. Even with the UTJMH mutator, I find I spend at least as much time running back to where the action is as I do duking it out with the monsters on maps like that. :( :doubt:

Besides, if I wanted to play a more serious game of UT I could always return to the redeemer arenas, or even the ordinary unmodified UT servers. Monster Hunt is fun. If I have an unfair advantage over the monsters, so much the sweeter.

Thank you Nameless, you sort of made my point. I had mentioned several times that this mod favors the single player. As you pointed out it is an extra help on big maps. Consider how often you play MH alone. Never unless you are are in a practice session on your own box. Note that this is also favorable towards big maps. If you get 4 people with this mod on a little (like most) mh map, they can walk through it without ever dying at all and it goes by so fast, you never get to take in the quality of the effort someone put into the map in the first place. Mah went through Canyon so fast I bet he couldn't tell you where a single switch is in the whole thing and that was without this mod applied at the time and just 4 good players. Other than a time limit or a life limit which I have mostly done away with, name a map that can't be finished with two people. Yes, there are maps that can't be finished with one person but they are team orient maps where one holds a switch while the other goes through the door or rides the elevator. UTJMH wouldn't change that. I think it's great for single player but not for servers. I'll use it, don't get me wrong. It will just be wee bit watered down is all. Has anyone actually found this elusive 2.1 version yet? The UTJMH website doesn't seem to allow the download to me not to mention, it doesn't refer to any file as version 2.1 either so I have been trying to get the version they offer without knowing what I'm getting.
