Yeah I've probably been quiet for too long...sorry about that. With school, work, and trying to fit my wife in there too when she is actually home (she has started back to school too, hopefully to finish her degree), I find it hard to play UT or even check mail, although I'll get up on MM to lay down my special brew of strangelove ownage on occasion. I do have some interesting news; a guy I work with gave me his old Mac G3. It's the beige model, 300 MHz w/ 192 MB of Ram. I am going to make an attempt to get OS X to install (it is possible according to http://www.lowendmac.com), and then after that I don't know what. Maybe it will convince me to actually buy one if I get to tinker with the guts of one instead of hanging around the Mac store, as if I had time. So yes, another one to the dark side, eh?

I played a lot on Missile Madness since I did not like the absense of Mapvote. Got hooked...

I'd be curious to know how your little experiment turns out DS. I have OSX running on my daughters 400 Mhz iMac and it seems to run well but it certainly isn't a work machine.

Me too. This will be very interesting. Let us know. I'd buy one if this works out just to have a rock solid box around besides my other Mac. I lost ANOTHER hard drive this weekend along woth the power to the house.

Well, it has OS X 10.1.5 on it now...Here's the mandatory screenshot:

I attempted an upgrade to Panther several times, but no dice. Otherwise, seems to be a nice stable machine. I actually am amazed at how well it handles OS X, considering that the machine was manufactured 1998 or 1999. If you were to attempt such a feat in the PC world (ex: install Windows XP on an AMD K6 box with 256MB) I imagine that it would be a pain to use for even the most mundane of tasks. I wouldn't even try UT on this, but it runs standard apps well and I can now remote into it from work via an SSH tunnel and OSXVnc. Pretty sweet!

DS I just finished Installing OSX (Panther) onto my 300 Mhz iBook. No Problems yet. Slow as all hell though. Not sure why you were having problems with panther on your machine.
