Here's something I've often wondered about:

I have this Logitech Optical mouse, and it comes with an adapter so that you can plug it into the PS/2 port, or you can remove the adapter, and plug it into a USB port.

I have a USB 2.0 adapter card in my PC, so would I get any kind of performance advantage by plugging the mouse into that port instead of the PS/2 port? :?:

Good question! I'm sure that even USB ver 1 puts through more info than a ps2 connection so I'm positive that USB 2 being several times faster than USB 1 would be even faster but the question isn't whether it would help as I doubt that it would since that much bandwidth would be overkill even for USB 1. I think the mouse is grounded at sending about packets a second and since the mouse port (ps2) can easily accomodate that, I can't see any reason to waste a perfectly good USB port on a mouse.

Use mine in the USB port. Frees up space for the other crap that I have attached to the computer. Works like a charm, but I have had trouble assigning the buttons for UT correctly, since upgrading to Winblows XP.
