Post subject: | Officially bored |
I'm sitting here in front of my PC as I have been for years and I'm actually bored for the first time. I don't want to spend the money it would take to make it better. I don't feel like messing with the server any since it's running pretty ok. I've already checked my chat program and email and this forum. I've gone to my favorite web pages already. I can and do, do all of this in about 10 minutes each day. Ususally, I just buy a new PC about right now to make it interesting again but like I said, I don't want to spend the money not to mention the effort now a days to really get a PC built out well and tweaked to run at full speed. It's all getting confusing too. Am I just getting old? All the updates and new drivers, security issues, cables, new technology, and issues issues issues. Too much for my little brain to handle. What program do I need for my Mac to do cool stuff with photos and video? Is there anything that comes built in to OSX? Maybe that's what I need to do next, is learn how to actually use my Mac. Hmmmm? The servers are all empty right now. They were like this yesterday too. I think UT is starting to limp on it's last leg as far as UT99 goes. Sure there are tons of servers but many of them are all actually coming from one machine and they are all empty too. Maybe I'll start a UT 2004 server. No Nukes but actually just remakes of all of the original maps only. Something. I don't know. I'm just so bored now. Who here has the remote controlled car game called ReVolt? It is fun for being a 1998 game. Later. |

Go and find a heap of new maps. If you like, I'll have a look at them and do a review of each one. New maps. That's all we need. Something playable but conceptually different, to make redeemer arena new again. 8) (Btw, some time when you're suffering insomnia, fire up your computer at 3 a.m. Check out the servers then. Include MH servers. I know a guy from Denmark who plays MH for nearly 24 hours at a stretch. For days! Then he disappears for up to a week, and then he's back at it again. He plays with a whole bunch of other Europeans (and night owls like me) all the time in our wee hours. :) ) |

When I was young I found a way to occupy myself when bored, but I heard it's hard on the eyes. Might be worth it though. Enjoy  |

lol -- just when u were young skank?! Hey Herm, in addition to Skank's suggestion, you should play a little more in the arena. I recently started back up and play for 30min to an hour per day, and it's as fun as it ever was! Also, the servers don't sit empty all day, as it might appear, but get very crowded intermittently. Almost everyday, I've seen the crowd go to 10 people. |

Post subject: | Mah has a point Herm |
Mah pretty much hit the nail on the head. There are a bunch of ppl that still play on the servers. I tend to get alot of traffic durring the middle parts of the day while I am at work so needless to say I don't see much of it but from looking at logs and word of mouth there was more ppl showing up than I had imagined. I don't play everyday but I try and at least play an hour or so every other one. So don't fret bud. Take a gander at you log files and I'm sure you would be suprised at just how much traffic you really get ;) Heck I can remember coming home late one night and jumping on the computer around 2 in the morning. Bumped the server computer mouse and bout fell out of my chair when I saw 8 ppl on the server. None of them were regulars but the shock of seeing a full house at 2 in the morning on a week day sure did blow me away. |<idcapri |

I think kids do that to ya Herm. I have gone through the same thing since mine was born. I sit down in front of the pc after work...check my email and a few forums. Then stare at the pc for 20 minutes trying to think of things to do...find none...don't feel like playing a game...hear my son playing in the other room...go play with my son. speaking of bored, got my son his first dog today. 8 week old puppy. My son is 18 months now and he loves the dog. Video Taped him playing with the doggy....or dawghi as he says it. :-) |

Post subject: | More maps? |
More maps? Are you mad? I have about 250 on there now. Many of them still haven't been played once. The top maps played are the original ones that come with the game strangely enough. No more maps please. Oh my widdle head is gonna explode. More maps? No way. Different maps? Maybe. You find em. You test em, You send em. I'll post em. Deal? Yes, Nameless, MH might fill the void for a while too. I forgot about that. Good call. You will see me there. Fluffy you are right about it being hard on the eyes. I'm damn near blind in my eye now though my right arm has never been more cut or as defined. I'm amazed I don't have some form of carpal tunnel happening in my hand by now. Hehehe Yo Mah, agreed, I should play more but my game has slipped so badly that now I actually prefer just to run around and telefrag peeps. Especially newbs! Kid, you are right. I do see them pack up as you and Mah have mentioned but there aren't the constant 4-6 players on there like before. I do see them full every once in a while and 5 minutes later, it's back down to 2. Kid, your server has plenty of folks most of the time. I see them at your house or mine usually. Agreed Bigi except I don't get my kid for 3 more months still. I can't wait! I also can't wait to get my boy his first dog too. Dogs rule. Thanks for the suggestions all. |
