Post subject: | Custom Win2k Boot Logo |
For those that like to tinker with things, as I do, I found a neat site on how to change your Win2k gui boot logo. I new it was possible, here is the how: Article http://www.littlewhitedog.com/modules.p ... page&pid=9 Boot Logos http://www.littlewhitedog.com/modules.p ... age&pid=17 I put this one up as a trial run...thought it was neat. http://www.littlewhitedog.com/view_imag ... l3_big.jpg Be careful to follow instructions closely if you do this as you could severly jack up your pc if you do it wrong. |

I really don't see why the method discussed in the article won't work in win xp, but you will have to know which file to edit to add the custom logo, as I am sure it is different....but it may not be. look in your windows/system32/ directory and see if the file NTOSKRNL.EXE is there...if it is, then you may be able to do it. I don't have an xp machine here to try it on and am quit reluctant to try this on my machine at work. I can take a quick look around and see if I can find any info on it. If you do try it on xp, make sure you backup, or do it on a machine you don't mind reloading.... (I did it on machine I didn't mind reload) edit: I found an article about it, but the method they describe is so dangerous that I am not going to even post the link. Lets just say, if you don't have your image edited correctly, your system won't boot. (this article doesn't even mention that, but I know better) Then you would have to go through the mess of restoring your NTOSKRNL.EXE through recovery console, not pretty. From reading the article though, I know it can be done in pretty much the same manner described in the article in my first post, but the image editing portion may be a little different. I am reluctant to go into it without an xp machine of my own to test it on first... (don't wanna be responsable for crashing your shit....lol) I will look into when I can get my hands on an xp machine, and let you know. |

btw, for those win2k people out there, if you want to do this but don't have the imaging software to edit the image, I would be glad to edit one of the images form that site for you to load up. It only takes a few minutes... |
