Hi Yall,

the forum server ran out of disk space this morning ( I guess due to all the maps for SRA and SRA2k4 8) ) . That's why you might have had problems to look at certain posts.

Order has been restored!

Forum space? How much space does it have in all?

Hermi,

the forum Database is 31 MB and the files about 5MB with an additional 550MB for Schwantzes SRA and SRA2k4.

This server hosts about 20 other customers of mine. I freed up about a 1G of HD space.

Since I'm being a "space hog" , I've told Andreas that I have a 120gb 5400 drive coming available in the next two weeks that I'm going to ship to him so we can have lots of space and not screw up his paying customers.

I didn't know that we could contribute. I just gave away a 40 gb 5400 drive to a friend the other day. I would have sent it. I come across hardware from time to time myself so I'll send a drive next time I get a good one. Is speed the issue when it comes to these drives or space?

This burp was not a big deal and everything is back in order.

Rob (Schwantz), I really appreciate the generous offer! Please keep the maps coing!

Once the new HD is installed we might be able to host Hermiski and Bigi and Jarg - if you want.

Speed is not an issue since your typical DSL/Cable/Modem connections are much slower than what the HD can deliver.

FYI, the Server is in a Co-Location facility in San Jose, CA. I share a cage with two friends of mine - Squirrely is one of them.

Schwantz's generosity never ceases to amaze -- but was that drive destined for your TIVO? The 5400rpm drives don't produce as much heat and are optimal for TiVO use.

Thanks to Andreas for his time and server space. Didn't realize we were taking up space with paying customers.

Long live redeemers!

I knew I was doing something wrong. How do you get people to pay you? I'm going to go out and buy a forum right away!

People do not pay me for the forum. I host websites and do e-mail spam filtering. That's where I add value. They are mostly small companies that do not have their own IT staff. They call me if there is a problem and I just fix it. It's nickels and dimes but much better than nothing.
