Post subject: | XP Question/Ut? |
Well i installed my new hard drive and installed Xp professional and transferred my games and some programs over to my new drive. Everything works but Ut2k3. When I launch the game it says UT2003 Build UT2003_Build_[2003-04-07_17.42] OS: Windows XP 5.1 (Build: 2600) CPU: AuthenticAMD PentiumPro-class processor @ 1005 MHz with 767MB RAM Video: NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4200 (5216) Failed to enter NvidiaLogo.ut2: Can't find file for package 'IndoorAmbience' History: UGameEngine::Init <- InitEngine . I can't reinstall the game because there are to many scratches on the first install cd and it can't read the disc urgh....So I copied the missing indoor ambient file from the first install cd but I cant find the ut logo I'm not sure what type of file it is. The game itself isn't showing up under the programs either but it is in local drive C hmm. One more question I went to download the latest drivers for my g-force card and there where 3 listed for XP one was 2000/Xp which i downloaded, xp media center, and 64 bit something for xp. I uninstalled the current nivida drivers rebooted and installed the 2000/xp drivers and than rebooted. The problem is when I launch a game it doesn't fill the hole screen at the top there is the icons to maximize, minimize etc. I can see the game it is to dark to play and when I try to maximize it nothing happends..So right now I have the xp nivida drivers installed from microsofts site and all is well but it is a outdated driver. Thanks :) |

Sounds to me like it is rendering from the software. Perhaps getting rid of the drivers and reinstalling will help. |

I called nivida today and the guy I talked to said that the new drivers are junk. He told me to download version 45.23 which are the best for xp/2000. Everything is a ok works great other than the refresh rates. I wish xp had a optimal setting like ME did. I'm stuck between 70 and 75hz cant tell which is better gateway said 70hz is max for my monitor. 75hz seems easier on the eyes. Hey jarg are you taking about the video drivers or the problem with ut2k3?. |

Jarg i have multiple fans installed one on the front of the case and one the back and a pci slot duel fan. The fan on the back of the case should suck air in but what about the front do. I have it sucking air in didnt know if I should have it reversed. Also how do I check to see if it rendering from software? Thanks |

I have my fans on the front blowing in and the back fans blowing out. You want cool air coming in and hot air going out. Quote: Also how do I check to see if it rendering from software?
First, are you talking about UT or UT 2004? I used to have a Nvidia card, and the drivers past 21.00 were crap for UT. The main way to check is on the preferences tab. It should have Direct 3D or Open GL in the first place (Assuming we are talking UT here). Same for UT2004, I think. |
