I put all of the large textures on my web space for you folks that lost or never had the second CD to get them from. I have an instruction set for how to install and how to use them as well. I will post it all here very soon so you can enjoy the beauty of the game as it was meant to be seen. It's pretty easy too actually. |

Notice to those with ATI cards The latest drivers for ATI Radeon cards (version 4.2 and 4.3) have in some way messed up the use of the OGL driver described above. Trust me, I can not run UT in OGL anymore, and have not been able to for a while. If the advanced textures are important to you, then DO NOT DOWNLOAD THESE DRIVERS. See this link to download the OpenGl drivers. http://cwdohnal.home.mindspring.com/utglr/ |

That is correct Jarg! ATI's last couple of sets of drivers actually break the normal OpenGL code thus breaking these drivers. Good catch Jarg and thanks for pointing this out and saving 100's of people 1000's of hours of trouble shooting. Hehehehe. It is true though. I would leave these drivers alone if you are using an ATI card. |

Here is the file for the textures: http://hermskii.com/Files/UTCD2Textures.rar I'll post the proper instructions for using them when I get home from work in a couple of hours. Just download this monster for now and leave it on your desktop. You'll need WINRAR to open it too by the way. |

OK, here is the rest of what you need to play UT using the large textures instead of the default small ones that come on CD #1 How to use the OpenGL Renderer: (Print this if you can) 1. Go to your C:\UnrealTournament\System folder. 2. Rename the file called OpenGLDrv.dll to OpenGLDrvOriginal.dll 3. Go to this link and download this zip file to your computer: http://cwdohnal.home.mindspring.com/utglr/utglr25.zip 4. Unzip it and copy the OpenGLDrv.dll to the C:\UnrealTournament\System folder. 5. Start the game and from the UT Desktop select options. 6. Select Preferences. 7. On the Video tab, select the Video Driver "Change" button. 8. A “Change Video Driver†option window will open. Select “Yesâ€. 9. The “Unreal Tournament Video Configuration†window will open. 10. Click the radius for “Show all devicesâ€. 11. Highlight “OpenGL Supportâ€. 12. Select “Nextâ€. 13. Select “Next†again. 14. Select “Runâ€. Done! If you don’t think it’s working or if you decide that you prefer D3D as your renderer, then all you need to do is go back to your C:\UnrealTournament\System folder and delete the OpenGLDrv.dll file. Then you need to rename your original back to the original name and then do steps 5-14 while selecting D3D instead of OpenGL in step 11. Complete the rest of the setup as described after step 11 and you should be good to go. If you are using the OpenGL driver and have the S3TC files installed from the 2nd UT CD, while in the game, again hit the tilde and type PREFERENCES. On the menu that opens, select Renderers and then OpenGL Support. Now, find the section called USES3TC= False and change it to True. Close everything and reboot. Restart the game and check it out! You should have better frame rates and the picture should at the very least seem more colorful. |

Well, I got what were supposedly the latest drivers for my ATI card from Windoze update, of all places. They work fine. BUT as mentioned at the website for the improved OpenGL driver, you can have some gamma problems. I am also getting some weird stuff at startup happening once in a while (well, weirder than what the new driver did anyway) and sometimes, rarely, the game will crash. Mostly what I am seeing is a very dark game sometimes. Other times not. I have to go into a map when things are dark and hit F11 to brighten it up. Then I keep hitting F11 until I get the gamma I want. I'm good until the next time I play UT from there. :| My extra texture set is entirely unaffected by all of this. Driver version: 6.14.10.6414 Driver Date: 12/12/2003 Is this the latest set of drivers? |
