HEY. That's GREAT!!! Is the pile still around? GO GET EVERYTHING!!!!! I'm sure that amongst all of the coals are a few diamonds that can be used. Processors, Mobos, memory.... Shucks. I wished I was there when you found this....

My brother used to work for his college dorm-clean-out in the summer. If those kids' parents knew how much stuff those kids throw away at the end of semester, they'd rethink the tuition payments.

Good find XX. Also check Craiglist from time to time. A lot of people just need to dump stuff and don't want the hassle of disposing of it themselves.

My best find was in high school, when I found a huge stash of Penthouses hidden in these oleander bushes.

I scored today as well. Today I was given a complete PC which the user couldn't get the hard drive to detect. It's in a decent case and the processor has a Volcano 5 on it. I said I'd take it. It came with two sticks of ram on a board that I didn't know what it was but it was ATX with on board sound. He gave be a 5200 speed 40gb hard drive and another 10gb and a 3.2 gb. He gave me three video cards of which one is a Geforce 2 MX something and a 19" monitor!!! Get this, Later this week, he's giving me a pentium 3 5 hundred something and a 700 something pentium with three flat screens minus power adaptors and about 10 PII 350's with 17" monitors. The box I got today, I figured out in 10 minutes. It had a bad ide ribbon cable. The board is a ASUS A7V133 but I can't tell yet what version. The ram is 512mb of Cas 2 PC 133 some kind of brand. It has a 100 zip drive(Do those work with floppies?) and it is powered by a AMD 750 something. I'll pull the heatsink off and look later. ASUS is wierd. I prefer my ABIT but for free, I'm not complaining a bit. Wife is getting mad though! LOL. It's a raid board too. Does that mean it's the good one? 56X CD Rom. OH yeah! This is one of the biggest free hits I've ever enjoyed. More as I find out! Later!

Don't worry Jarg. Something bad is bound to happen to me since I've had such good fortune. Hopefully this is actually all good payback for the hell I've had with the spare room and electrical problems.

And how do you explain all this crap to your wife? Mine would not talk to me for a week for bringing so much junk home :-)

She doesn't know the whole story yet. Man will she be mad. I just got rid of about 6 PCs and here come in another ten. LOL I'm in trouble for sure but it will be worth it. I build them out and give them to families so their kids can have one for scholl and email. I've given away about 50 to date. I never charge either. I think everyone should have a PC.

On another note if I didn't mention it. The Athlon 750 that I got in that system I got the other day was actually a T-Bird 1000! The BIOS had to default to something when I cleared it so it picked 750. It was overheating so I took it out to clean and re-apply a good thermal grease and TADA! 1000. Sweet!
