It was coming down up here too. We were/are supposed to get snow for a total of 36 hours. I noticed that it was coming down as rain sometimes, then snow again. I shoveled off my front and back porches which had at least four inches on them, more like six. I scraped off the heavy wet snow from the roof of the greenhouse type garden room I have over the back porch. I fired up the snowblower and did my driveway and sidewalks. All the while it was still coming down heavily. The snowblower struggled a bit, 11 hp or not, because the snow was so wet and dense. By the time I was all done everything, and cleaned and dried the snowblower, it was time to scrape off the garden room roof again, and clear the at least four more inches of wet snow off of the porches. :?

I went inside and had some hot tea. At 4:30 the snow stopped. How long it will be like that I don't know. We're sort of in the eye of the storm just now. The back edge has yet to hit. :(

We got around 6" here in NC. I did not go to work on Monday, and I was late today. It sucks because a lot of it melted today. Why does that suck? Because it is supposed to get down to the teens tonight, and I am on the road at 5 AM. I can't help but think of that old Paul Simon song, "Slip Sliding Away".

Hey Nameless and Gang!

Get rid of that snow and crap as I'm coming back to Guelph and Acton Ontario on Feb 8th to the 20th. I expect warm weather when I'm there. None of this snow and wind chill shit.

Tropical Schwantz

P.S. Hey Mah! Have you had to cut your lawn yet in SEA???

Got kinda boned here in this part of NC as well. Speaking of the Paul Simon song...back in the college days, we used to have an apartment where our bedroom faced our parking lot and the steep driveway leading out. Our favorite winter activity was to open up the curtains and watch idiots try and fishtail or "crabbing" their way up the hill (quite unsuccessfully, I might add). All this being done to that tune or Billy Joel's 'Running On Ice' blaring on the stereo.

Snow/ice didn't hold me and the little vampire-mobile back. The hospital doesn't ever close, and they needed people who could get there. Pulled my share of overtime.

lol funny thread hottie.

Hey Schwantz, do you have an spare mower you can send down? I have an extra heatsink fan motor that I can slap onto it. Our landscaper guy who came over and put the place into shape said we are going to have one hell of a time keeping up this garden in the spring. I am thinking of getting one of those robo-mowers like the roomba.

Once again today -- no rain! I'm starting to get confused.

Well I got lucky the trailing edge of the storm system didn't dump any more snow on me above a light dusting. :o

Of course we still got 35cm of snow; (that's just under 14"). The snow plow did my street and filled in the end of my driveway today. I had to use an old coal shovel to dig that lot out, it was so dense and compacted that a snow shovel was unsuitable. And the wind chill factor just made the chore that much more miserable. :doubt:

I'm sorry Schwantz, unless you can bottle some of that warmer weather and bring it with you, you'll just have to bundle up and stumble through the snow with the rest of us. Bring a good pair of galoshes, Guelph is in the snow belt and they probably got a lot more snow than I did. :!:

I'm thinking of taking a digital photo of my Mustang all covered (buried actually,) with snow. If I do, I'll upload it as my Avatar for the winter.
