Post subject:  HELP!! 56K modem screwing up royaly!!!

Hey , I'm having major hedaches from my us robotics 5699b modem , I'll be either just surfing or trying to download and it will give me that pop-up Error box that says "usrobotics modem driver interface has a problem and must shut down " what the is that ???? and how do I rectify it ?? or is it a sign that my modem''s fried  I can still got on line with it , it just won't stay that way , and I'll either get that or before long I'll get the " server can't be located please hit refresh or try again later " garbage and that after I'd had already been there on the site just minutes before !! :doubt: any help 's appreciated ........

The message is saying it's a driver problem -- did you recently install any other software that might be conflicting with the driver? If not, try going to the US Robotics website (while your connection is still up!) and making sure you have the latest driver for your model of modem.

What OS are you running -- 98SE or XP?

Trigon. Try removing the modem and turning on the computer. After it boots up, turn it off, and reinstall the modem. Windows will install default drivers for it, which should work just fine.
