Well, I got my new mobo and processor today. It is a P-4 3.0 ghz with the 800 mhz fsb and Hyperthreading. The mobo is an Intel 865 PERL. I know it will be a fast system, but I can not get Windows to install. I have tried everything, but during the install process, I get blue screens. Suspiciously, the error messages are different every time. I think I'm gonna go ballistic. :?

I will take it to the place I got it tomorrow, and see what they say. I GIVE UP!!!!!

That totally sux Jarg. I'll talk to God and see if he can't hook you up with some better results soon. Strange that this is happening. Makes me wonder about your cooling since this is the same CPU right? Heat has had the same effect with me before on many more than one occasion. You haven't already tried to overclock it have you? God said cool by the way but he's busy and you'll get your good fortune when he gets to you. Until then he ask that you just remain calm and patient and continue using the gifts he gave you to hold yourself over till it's your turn. Said something else too about too many people praying for the light not to turn yellow before they can get through it. Anyway, good luck with the new system. I hope your turn is at least tomorrow.

Thank you, Herm. God works in wonderous ways. Here is the story:

I was totally dejected, so I decided to read a book. As I was reading, a thought occured to me. I had checked EVERY piece of hardware in the computer... EXCEPT the new memory. I removed 1 piece of the memory, and VOILA. I am typing this on the NEW computer :D
I'll go tomorrow and replace this module with a new one. Once again, Thank you, Herm... and of course, My thanks to The Big Guy Upstairs.

Negative. I got this brand new. My old one was a 2.4 gig. I can't wait to get the dual channel memory going. I think it will be FAST.

See you all online!!!!!! :D

Sweet! Yeah, the big guy is funny like this sometimes. Be sure bench it some before you go nuts on us. Main thing will be the overclocking though. Started at ?.?mhz and got to ?.?mhz. Whatis the new one again?

So, the old mobo wasn't bad -- it was your ram all along??? Take it all back, get your money refunded, and wait until after Xmas to buy the 800fsb/ht stuff.

hint:
the Intel 850 chipset (old motherboard) uses RDRAM
the Intel 865 chipset (new motherboard) uses DDR SDRAM

(sorry Jargonaut, couldn't wait for you to respond)

Yep, I purchased a whole new mobo and ram... LOL, I wonder what would happen if I put the rdram in the 865??? :D

KERBOOM!!!

Mahatma, The old mobo is still bad, but the new one is just fine. Got the new ram chip, and I'm hyperthreading!!
