In my effort to waste time, today I went to File Planet and went through all 1600+ DeathMatch maps and downloaded all of the maps with ratings of 4 or more on a scale of 1-5. There were a total of around 52 maps. Of that list, I seperated out the single file maps from the multifile maps to keep with my tradition of being lazy. That left a total od around 37. Of these, I tested them and 34 or so actually were single file maps that didn't crash. Of these 34, about 5 are really good IMHO and 20 totally suck. The remaining 9 are average at best. Right off hand, I have to put in a good word for DM-Morpheus2 and DM-Funnel. I love the hugeness of DM-MyCity and a few others in there. I'm about to reboot the server so the changes will take effect. if you were playing today and noticed insane lagg on CG, now you know why. As always, report my screw-ups to me. Thank you. There is one map in there BTW that is nothing more than a square and you are inside it. I think records might be set it. Later!

Scify,

I got all of the newer maps at File Planet. I don't like many of them and see a few that I will remove already. DM-MyCity is just to big and has too many polygons or something. It brought my PC to it's knees earlier today. I'll take it off when everyone's asleep. I will be making new map packs as well.

Hi Slayed! Long time no hear from! I hope you and that Hottie are doing well. Mah, I'm sorry but I can't remember the name of that map.

Well, I did it again. I was so saddened by the maps i got yesterday based on a rating system that obviously sux that I went back through all 1600+ again today and this time I downloaded all of the maps that had been downloaded over 1000 times. This method faired far better than the first one. I excluded the ones I already had and downloaded about 120 more. Of these 120, about 60 of them were single file maps. Of those 60, 44 tested to be truly single file maps. Of these 44, I actually like about 25 of them a lot! They have been uploaded already. The one to mention this time is City1 which is a duplicate of the CityIntro Map we have to watch each time we start the game. This was hard to find because there were at least 5 of them and all of the others didn't work. I got one called MorpheusTown too which is cool because it's Morpheus with about 7 towers instead of 3. I can't believe how many Matrix maps are out there. Very annoying.

Tell me what you think and which ones don't work for you. Later! Time to reboot the server so changes will take effect!

:D :D :D

I think I know which one you're talking about. The one with wood texture all around, a center post and a cross-beam. Nothing else.

I'll have to look it up again tonight. I played it with, oh what's that guy... suss-something. It was a blast. At least the room is bigger than that old Cathedral map that was removed a while back.

:D :D :D

I just finished a round with the City1 map and it is fun but totally huge so I have downgraded the time limit on CG to 10 minutes. I think that is fair enough for enyone to suffer through on any map. 10 minutes good for you? That City1 is huge and I think the player size on the map it'self is off quite a bit being that the railroad tracks are almost half as tall as you are. Still I like it a lot. Yes, by the way, the map with the wood grain walls and te pillar in the middle is the one I'm talking about. There are a few others that are just like fractal and the other arena type maps. I think rifle arena is one of them.

Dno't try to ajdsut yuor cpmtour. I tnhik it is wrkonig fnie.

Herm, 10 minutes is a good cutoff point, thanks! THat will keep us from hunting forever on those maps like WickedMansion, Crane, etc, which usually run about 20 minutes.

Good call!

Good deal. I really like a bunch of the new maps so far but there are a few that have to go. Some are real intensive on the old video card and my system is better than most so I know ya'll have to hate them. If they are so big you lagg out due to texture sizes and such, list them here and I will see about removing them. Thanks.

Maps to be removed:

1: MyCity

I can't remeber the name of the last one I said I'd remove wait! Yes I do, DM-Deathcamp mustgo too

2: DM-DeathCamp.

Most of the maps look pretty cool herm....nice job. Thanks.

I have about 120 maps that are one file maps and are deemed playable at the moment. I got them from unrealplayground...I couldn't even finish the list they had so many..I went through and deleted the ones that were unplayable...or weren't acutally one file downloads....

you might want to check them out.

I was wondering if you had your new maps zipped? I'd like to get a copy if you do.

Not yet. That will take a while to do. I'm still trying to clean out the maps I don't want. Out of all of the new ones I added today, I have already removed 8 because they ended up sucking so bad.

Mein gott, man...

Herm...don't you even playtest these maps before uploading them? I test all the maps I put on the server at least three times for suitability to our kind of play...the ones I am unsure of, maybe 5 times or so...you would save yourself a lot of upload time, and save you players having to download crap if you would playtest...just an opinion, m8...

(even so, with the playtesting I get dogs now and then...and I have to keep reminding myself that not all my players have a rockin' box like I do...some of my maps I am sure are hard on the older systems)

Bo's right. Herm, I recognized at least two maps that you tried out on cg almost 2 years ago, and dropped. Some of the others I recognized from servers like Brutal Brian's, and Apple Cherry's. Those maps don't usually work so well with redeemers. :(
