Well , after a week or more of getting the run around from eathlink , who has given me no real good answer as to why there has been no DSL service in my area for more than a week !!....I've called today ,and told em to put me back on Dial up !....Im sick of it , Broadbands nice , but really too high for what you're gettting IMHO :? ....so when I get all the crud around here done and get back to playing I'll be 56K 'ing it till the cost comes down to something less that $50.00 a month !...

later all , have a good week ,

<56K> Trigon...

Yeah we really are getting gouged. I'm paying $50/mo also, and I'm ready to get something cheaper.

I'm looking around for promos in the Seattle area. I don't think I can ever go back to 56k tho. It is torture.

I get 1300/134 measured - all the time. There is no fluctuation.

By the end of the year it will be 256Kbits on the uplink side.

I was paying $50 a month for high speed cable, 3 meg down and uh.... 350? up. I went with the 'lite' (128 both directions)version @ $29.99, and told them to turn off the TV channels which was another $45 a month.
So far they've neither turned off the TV nor slowed down my connection, so I'm very satisfied with the service. They will hear no more complaints from me either, I'm keeping my mouth shut.

Perhaps those of you with cable in your area should investigate this. Maybe you can get the same kind of deal that I am.

Should I risk it? If I'm wrong then CG will suck big time for a month or however long it takes them to put me back as is. Temtation Island.

Every apartment in my brother's quadraplex has cable running into it for free, because of the previous tenants. One guy, who has been there the whole time, asked to have his turned off too, so that the bill would stop coming. And lucky for him, the signal kept coming through for him also. I don't understand cable, but it sounds as if it is hard to turn off.

As for cable broadband, how do they cap your speeds anyhow?

I think they have computer controlled, program controlled subnets that dynamically change to enable a certain throughput based on segment usage. That's just a guess.
