Isn't it one of the 4 "official" updates. They included extra textures, maps and bots (especially the boss skin).

It comes on the original CD but is updated with the 436 patch I thought. Sounds like you didn't patch it up.

I may be mistaken, but isn't Unreal Gold the first game in the series? It was mostly a game like Quake was and not mainly multiplayer.
Still, UT99 and Unreal were based on the same engine, so maybe it could work. Still, there were a lot of engine changes between Unreal and UT. It may bit be possible to play some of the multiplayer maps.
Just a guess on my part.

I keep both the gold and the UT99 fully loaded on my drive.
But I haven't tried swapping any files between them so I dunno if there's any compatabilty or not.
But to echo Jarg the Unreal Gold is definitely the elder game here. The only reason I even keep it around is for the co-op servers like Tenticle Hunter. He's modified the game so the critters become super deadly and can even spawn new ones when killed. Lotta fun. He's also made a number of weapon mods..."lightning gun", "quad shotgun", "stick-o-death" and the like. Also, shooting boxes, barrels and sometimes even the lights can yield unpleasant results.

Here's where to find it.....
Co-op Gamer <---www.freewebs.com/tenticlehunter [JCoop5]
24.209.42.142

Remember, this is a CO-OP server! Kill the critters only! No shooting other players!

Yes, I have. But I still really enjoy going back to those old game maps.

Under the monster hunt tab in UT 99 you can find a listing for a co-op server run by 3. It is called "3's MonsterHunt MapPack".
It has many map packs that have been adapted to the newer game engine. MOST of the maps and files are now on fast redirect. Those that are not are gradually being uploaded onto the redirect server by 3 as he gets to them. Check it out if you have not already done so. :faroah:

You can get the original CD1 here:

Unreal Tournament

Unreal Tournament is the original King of the Hill in the frag-or-be-fragged multiplayer gaming world. As the undisputed 1999 Game of the Year, Unreal Tournament grabbed the first person shooter genre by the soiled seat of its pants and knocked it around the room with its never-before-seen graphics, brutal edge-of-your-seat gameplay and a massive and varied feature list that gave gamers more than they ever expected.

My bad! Check for that name under the UT servers tab. 3 runs a Monster Hunt server also, but the co-op server won't be listed under Monster Hunt. :colors:

You will probably need to do a powerful lot of downloading files before you can play, but most of the necessary files are now on fast redirect, if not all. :drunken:
