Try these tips on setting it up and see if it helps :http://unreal.epicgames.com/ut2003tweakguide.htm

also :http://unreal.epicgames.com/

you can get a different type of renderer here its called software rendering and you can try it as a last resort, aas I've heard the quality is not real good as compared to D3d or open GL rendering
Good luck ,let me know if this helps or not

Tri

First let me say it wasn't a mistake as you'll have the laptop as long as you have the next two PC's you buy. I have to admit that though laptops suck for gaming, they RULE when it comes to lasting forever thus they cost a lot.

I will post a link for OpenGL Rendering. I think you should give it a shot as the picture is usually better and it is much easier on your system than D3D Renderer. Here you go:

How to use the OpenGL Renderer:
(Print this if you can)

1. Go to your C:\UnrealTournament\System folder.
2. Rename the file called OpenGLDrv.dll to OpenGLDrvOriginal.dll
3. Go to this link and download this zip file to your computer:

http://cwdohnal.home.mindspring.com/utglr/utglr23.zip

4. Unzip it and copy the OpenGLDrv.dll to the C:\UnrealTournament\System folder.
5. Start the game and from the UT Desktop select options.
6. Select Preferences.
7. On the Video tab, select the Video Driver "Change" button.
8. A “Change Video Driver” option window will open. Select “Yes”.
9. The “Unreal Tournament Video Configuration” window will open.
10. Click the radius for “Show all devices”.
11. Highlight “OpenGL Support”.
12. Select “Next”.
13. Select “Next” again.
14. Select “Run”.
Done!

If it doesn't work well enough, just select the UT Safe Mode Start again and change your renderer back to D3D.

Hey Herm!! thats only for ut1 ...not 2003.... that won't work !!!.. I think the question was about ut2003 ????

Tri

ps...you can run ut2003 in open GL too, you just can't use that one!!and you have to go to the system file and change the render mode in there to use it.........

Trigon is right. I'm so UT focused I wasn't paying attention. This renderer won't work on UT2003. You'll have to try something else besides what i mentioned above. Sorry.
