I have a recurring problem with Outlook Express (running under Windows ME). From time to time, I am not able to view attachments from other people (but can send them without any problems). The attachment will appear as a ".email" file, regardless of whether it is a picture, sound file, etc. Everything was working fine again until last night. I think that either Windows or Norton updated itself and changed something. Any suggestions for correcting this?

Go to outlook then .Go to tools look for options it will bring up box with different tads. Find Secunity. Make sure that box is uncheck for this ( Do not allow attachments to be save or opened that could potentially be a virus.)
Somebody told me and I don't remember who it was So thank them not me.I got this new computer i couldn't open attachments either. If that not it.I don't have clue. Who every it was it was big help for me.

Hmm. A . email file? Sounds strange. Can you change the file type to anything else? For a picture, can you save it as a .jpg and view it?

The box was already unchecked. Also, telling the computer to open as a specific file type doesn't work either. I don't know what the file is to start with. I have tried to get someone to send me a picture file, then told windows to open it with my picture viewer. Didn't work. Getting majorly frustrated here. :-x :-x :-x

I would've thought the same as Sci.

Anyone else have any ideas? Maybe your antivirus software?
